MIRROR AND REFLECTION
1. My location for these images was here at Somerset Berkley Regional High School. I used the art gallery and a studio setting to take these photographs.
2. In the first image of the camera lens, I allowed the reflection to simply be in the lens itself. For the other photographs, I purposefully placed the mirror in front of and beneath the objects so as to catch the reflection of the object looking down into the mirror.
3. I was able to create a normal image rather than an unusual image in the mirror.
4. My setting is plain and not distracting while the images in the mirrors are colorful and interesting to look at.
5. My photos have reflections that are interesting. The photographs featuring the old fashioned Kodak Brownie are compelling. The images of the flower are more creative and playful, with the bright colors and bright subject matter.
6. My photographs are about a matter of perspective, Is what we see reflected in broken glass and broken people more beautiful than when seeing them face to face? Is life through a lens more clear than without a lens?
7. I was not blurring the lines of illusion and reality with this project. Instead, I was trying to create a clearer point of view of life and objects through the images.
8. I was influenced by artists like Erich Ferdinand and others from this post. (click the word "post" for the link)
