Capturing Light
photograph 1
1. What time of day did you take this photograph?
- This image was taken around late morning. I chose this time to photograph so I would have an adequate amount of sunlight for capturing light.
2. Where was the light you photographed>
- The light that I photographed was off to the left, almost behind the leaves. I chose this angle so the leaves themselves would be illuminated .
3. Describe the composition of your photograph.
- My photograph is taken from behind the leaves of a lilac plant in my backyard. The light illuminates the leaves and heightens the green color of the leaves. The leaves are in focus while the background is blurred, causing a sense of depth to arise. The sunlight also creates shadows on the leaves at the angle it hits them, bringing forth another sense of light.
4. Were there shadows that accompanied the light?
- There are some shadows on the back of the leaves in the right of the photograph. This is caused by the angle at which the sunlight came through and the angle of the photograph.
5. What feeling or mood does the light in your composition suggest?
- This photograph emanates feelings of lightheartedness and peace. The image of nature and sunlight creates a bright feeling, even with the shadows in the photograph.
